MariEtta Adams - Polymer Clay Jewelry

MariEtta works in polymer clay creating pendants, earrings, bracelets and even tiny shoes from polymer clay.  The heart in this photo was made using the Makume Gane method, a very complex method of creating one of a kind polymer jewelry.  MariEtta is the Treasurer for the Polymer Clay Guild of Kansas City. 

Barbara Albert - Multimedia

Barbara paints tiny flowers, butterflies, mice, pails, dragonflies, etc. on chairs, bowls, birdhouses, virtually anything.  Each painting is very detailed and filled with color.  Barbara painted the dailies, butterfly and dragonfly on the primitive birdhouse in this photo.  Barbara is also a wonderful quilter and fabric artist.  Barbara lives in Overland Park, Kansas.

Rosena Baumli, Jewelry

Rosena taught music in Germany four years and has sang with the Bamberger Canterey.  She then taught and performed in New Hampshire and Massachusetts for thirty-two years.  Her new passion is that of a jewelry artist with great attention to color, texture, line, pattern and style.  Many of Rosena's jewelry pieces feature Swarovski crystals and lampwork beads. 

Krystal Barr - Leaf Castings

Krystal has put together some lovely leaf casting plaques for the shoppe.  Various sizes, shapes and colors are available.  They look great hanging from a fence in the garden or laying in a birdbath.

Krystal is the Director of Print and Mail Services at Sprint.

Sharon Baum - Multi Media

Sharon creates small cottage twig hearts with dried florals attached, Holiday trees with sweet annie tucked within the branches, stitched ribbon dolls and the kugel in the photo with pressed flowers.  Sharon is the daughter of one of our other featured artists, Katherine Glevanik.

Elle Binder - Silversmith

Elle's hand hammered sterling silver bangles and cuffs works of art to wear.  Each bracelet is made of raw silver, formed, shaped, hand hammered and stamped with any phrase you choose.  Your children's names, anniversaries, poetry, etc.  When bracelets are worn in multiples they make a tinkling sound on the wrist as you go about your day.  Tag earrings are also available at GardenologyKC.  Elle's jewelry is available for purchase in our online store.

Sue Bolton, Multimedia

Sue bought an SX-70 Polaroid camera at a garage sale and found  the joy o f instant gratification as the photo popped out the front and developed before my eyes.  Taking a different slant I learned that heat could allow me to change th image.  By heating and then moving the image the photo suddenly became more.  It became the impression of what I saw and that is much more telling.  Carol is a retired Art teacher.

Sue Brockmeier - Stained Glass

Sue creates beautiful stained glass sun catchers, wind chimes, lamps, mosaic crosses, and mirrors.  We have trouble keeping them in stock - Sue can't make them fast enough.  They combine stained glass with decorative wire work and glass beads.  Chimes are suitable inside or out.  

Bill "Brownie" Brownrigg - Carpenter

Brownie creates the most wonderful churches from salvaged barnwood, tin ceilings, vintage doorknobs and plates, etc.  Each church is a one of a kind and they sell as quickly as he brings them into the shoppe. 

Sandy Cozad - Blacksmith

Sandy is a talented and versatile artist working in blacksmithing, wire work, collage, painting - virtually any medium she chooses.  Her creations are wonderful and look great in the home or garden.  The gazing ball garden stake in this photo is a glass gazing ball with heavy rods curled around to hole it in place.  Sandy lives in the Kearney area of Kansas City and is an artist for Hallmark.

Cindy Creaden - Handcrafted Soaps

Cindy creates the most wonderful handcrafted soaps that are available in 18 scents using the finest ingredients including coconut, palm and olive oil for a creamy moisturizing soap.  I use these soaps myself and the scents are great - my current favorite is Plumaria - bliss.

Lynette Fisk - Polymer Clay Jewelry

Lynette creates the most darling apples and apple core earrings from polymer clay - so realistic you won't believe they are sculpted from clay.

Marilyn Gash - Multimedia

Marilyn creates the most wonderful pin cusions using wool fabric, vintage buttons, vintage tins and zinc jar lids.  They are beautiful as paper weights on your desk, on a hall table or use them for pin cushions in your sewing room. 

Marilyn also creates wall art from vintage photo albums, botanical prints and vintage flower posies.

Rebecca Garoutte - Florist/Mixed Media

Rebecca is a gifted florist and mixed media artist from Florals, Altered Bird Houses, Collages, Photography, Painting, etc.  Rebecca created the paper flowers in trhis photo with tissue paper in an afternoon.  Holyhocks, carnations, roses, etc.  Rebecca lives with her family in Overland Park, Kansas. 

Trudy Gautschi - Painter

Trudy works in watercolors and oil paints featuring leaves, flowers, game birds and abstracts in vibrant colors.  Her oil paintings of prairie chickens are amazing. 

Kathryn Glevanik - Pressed Flower Greeting Cards

Kathryn's pressed flower greeting cards are beautifully arranged using vibrant colors and textures.  They are perfect for framing or sending a special note to a friend.  This one card that will not be thrown away, but treasured for years to come.

Kathryn is a retired florist (82 years young) living in the Kansas City area.

Steve Hess - Hypertufa Garden Art

A local favorite of gardeners for years!  Steve creates whimsical garden art in the form of stepping stones, plaques, bowls, garden stakes, swags, and on and on...  Always creating something new to surprise and delight.  I have chosen a selection of Steve's work that are my favorites to share.

Jodie Hoover - Textile Artist

Jodie has been sewing for years and is an excellent seamstress.  Jodie was asked to create our lavender sparrow sachets and our reversible handbags. 

Jodie lives in the Olathe, Kansas with her family.

Vickie Hover - Sculptor

Award winning artist, Vickie Hover creates these one of a kind sculpted woodland folk that are finely detailed so lifelike they seem to have their own personalities with tiny acorns for hats and long eyelashes.  You'll want your own collection.

Laurie Kessler - Farm Chic Potted Containers

Laurie has a great affection for farm chic which she celebrates in her potted containers that have been so well received at Gardenology.  A fondness for the farm and country things is a part of each Midwesterner as most of us spent time with our grandparents in the Summer at the family farm or it's where we grew up.  Laurie's planted sifters, enamelware teapots, cream seperators, and measuring cups  allow us to bring home a little bit of the country for our city gardens.

Laurie works for Estee Lauder and lives in Overland Park.

Diane Koska - Florist

Diane creates floral arrangement using dried ornamentals in lovely shades of gold, burgundy, blue and yellows.  Most of her arrangements are of a small scale to fit in any room easily.  Diane live with her family in Lenexa, Kansas.

Marcy Lally - Mixed Media

Marcy instructs our mosaic, decoupage, & painted furniture workshops at GardenologyKC.  She also creates mosiac stepping stones, bird baths & toad stools for the shoppe.  Her vintage pop bottle soap dispensers look great in the kitchen or guest bath.

Marcy lives with Dave and Pookie (her cat) in Mission, Kansas.

Shannon Lea - Photography

Shannon creates lovely framed photos of seasonal flowers, greeting cards and bookmarks with vibrant colors, modern graphics, photography and relevant expressions. 

Nancy Longman - Prose Garden Framed Art

Nancy is a retired special education teacher who began creating prose for her students that did not qualify for the typical achievement awards.  She felt that they deserved praise for their singular and heroic accomplishments.  Now she continues to create awards for the heroes in our lives with her mixed media creations.  She has collections for weddings, birth of a child, birthdays, leaving home, loss of a loved one, retirement, etc.  Nancy can do custom pieces for your special someone by request.

Marilyn Lyons - Photographer

Marilyn has been using different mediums to create since she was a little girl.  No matter what the medium, she is always creating art with her hands.  Marilyn believes that nothing created is ever a mistake! 

"Although traveling to take photographs is fun, you don't have to travel beyond your own back yard for some wonderful photo opportunities.  You will find beautiful yellow lilies with the glow of the early morning light, the butterflies surrounding a bush, the dew on a neighbor's rose blossom if you only stop for a moment and observe."

Marilyn has been juried in several art shows in the Kansas City area:

Marilyn is a member of the National Association of Photoshop Professionals, Digital Dimensions and Beyond Photography Group.

April Mai - Screenprinter

April is a graduate of the Kansas City Art Institue and creates Gocco prints of botanical images suitable for framing.  Images are hand drawn and then screened using the Gocco method.  They look best in multiples, but are great alone on hall table, office or child's room.

Linda Martin - Concrete Castings

Linda's concrete stepping stones, bird feeders, plaques and garden decor look alot like natural stone.  They are finely detailed with sunflowers, fairies, hummingbirds, the moon and stars and goddesses.  They look fabulous at night hanging in the garden as the creamy white color glows much like white flowers in the garden. 

Linda is enjoying her second career in the Overland Park area.

Diane Miller - Handcrafted Scrubs

Luxurious all natural "Salt of the Earth" scrubs are soothing to cold weather ravaged hands.  The instant soothing emolients and light fragrance are the perfect endulgance.

Kim Morenz - Girl Potter

Kim throws pottery on the wheel and creates wren houses, toad houses, pottery pals, wall pockets and garden bells.  Each piece has alot of personality and expresses Kim's sense of fun for the garden.  Her work is adorned with ivy leaves, sunflowers, tiny frogs and flowers.  The pottery bells look great in the kitchen and the wren houses look great on a bookshelf supporting vintage garden books.

Laura Motush - Photographer

Laura's photography has a calming effect and would be perfect in an office environment or reception area.  Children respond positively to images of plants and flowers and Laura's prints would have a calming effect for a child's room. 

Laura is a local girl that is in currently going to college in Arizona.

Judy Murray - Leaf Casting

Beautiful cast leaves from hostas to banana leaves come in natural to bright metallics.  Great for fountains, water elements, in potted containers, in the garden or used in the home as a platter or bowl.

Laverne Musick - Carpenter

Laverne makes the best functional birdhouses out of reclaimed wood and hardware.  They are sturdy, built to last through many nesting seasons.  The birdhouses are available in singles, doubles, triples and quad nesting compartments.  If you want a durable, functional, yet interesting bird house these are the ones for you.

Chris Oldham - Muralist and Graphic Design

Chris is the son of Julie Pishny, owner of GardenologyKC.  Chris has completed murals for commerical buildings and private residences.  His latest endeavor is graphic design for ShawMad, his t shirt company.  Chris' designs are bold, relevant, and unisex in theme.  Chris also is an accomplished carpenter and makes potting tables, benches, and fixtures for GardenologyKC.

Janet Owczarzak - Watercolorist

Janet is our watercolor workshop instructor at Gardenology.  She creates beautiful florals featuring the best loved flowers of gardeners - sunflowers, coneflowers, columbine, roses, etc.  Join in a workshop and make your own greeting cards or gifts for your family and friends.  It's just one class away and at $35.00 per class a real bargain.

Lisa Phelps - Garden Statuary

Lisa is a local girl with four boys that still manages to find time to create some wonderful statuary for Gardenology.  Some of her creations feature dogs, cats, squirrels, frogs, angles, cherubs, fairies, and many others.  Her poem stones are perfect anywhere in the garden, under shrubs, along borders, at the garden entrance, or in the herb garden.  Her expressions provide a "surprise" element in the garden and make wonderful gifts.  Lisa can create your favorite expression by request.

Julie Pishny - Jewelry, Painter, Mosaics, Multimedia, Photography

Julie is the owner of GardenologyKC and created Prairie Thistle a jewelry line featuring vintage keys, tintypes, beads, buttons, fossils, copper, brass, silver and many other elements.  Other areas of interest are mosaics, hypertufa, photography, painting, assemblages, windchimes, textiles, knitting, crocheting, sewing, virtually anything that catches her interest.

Dan Pishny - Carpentry

Dan is the co-owner of GardenologyKC and builds potting tables, benches, garden structures, cabinetry, and also helps with all day to day ongoings at GardenologyKC. 

Ryan Pishny - Birdfeeders

Ryan is the stepson of owner, Julie Pishny and the youngest artist at fifteen years that is represented in the shoppe.  Ryan makes functional bird feeders from red cedar with a screened bottom that perching birds love.  Don't be surprised to see cardinals, doves, sparrows, cowbirds, bluejays, etc. using this feeder daily.  It is an excellent sunflower seed feeder but can also be used for mixed seeds.

Lisa Presley - Collage Artist

Lisa creates beautiful botanical collage note card sets, blank greeting cards, and wall art featuring botanicals, femme imagery, and seasonal images. 

With alot of attention to detail and craftsmandship, Lisa's cards say "you care" when sent to a friend.  Don't buy mass producted greeting cards - there's just too many wonderful artists making handcrafted, unique, cards for the same or often lower prices than card shops.

Sue Reuschlein - Jewelry

Sue creates lovely beaded bracelets for Gardenology using varied color and shapes.  They are simple, easy to wear, feature smaller beads that make them lightweight and easy to secure on the wrist. 

Sue is a teacher and lives in Lenexa, Kansas. 

Terin Scott - Potter

Terin is a highly regarded potter in the Kansas City area and has taught pottery at the college level.  Terin was commissioned to produce an exclusive pottery line for Gardenology.  Terin's pottery is dishwasher and microwave safe. 

Terin is a member of the KC Clay Guild, and NCECA a national organization for ceramic educators.

Mary Ann Seltzer - Carpenter

Mary Ann designs and builds funky bird houses complete with legs and feet!  Each birdhouse is custom built and stained in vibrant colors that look great inside or out. 

Michelle Pyda Sevcik - Mixed Media

 Michelle creates organic collages with handcrafted papers, organic material, whispy golden threads and fibers creating striking wall art.   

Lisa Shipman - Painter

Lisa paints florals on vintage windows repurposing them into art suitable for inside or on a covered porch area.  Each window is a one of a kind.  Lisa lives with her family in Olathe, Kansas.

TeeDee Stipic - Jewelry Designer

Bracelets, earrings and necklaces featuring cloisonne beads, pearls, crystals and charms.  TeeDee has sold her jewelry in the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art, Powell Gardens and Black Bamboo.

Tee Dee is an avid gardener and artisan living in the Kansas City area.

Charles Thacker - Carpenter

Charles has been creating one of a kind bird houses in the shape of windmills, barns, churches, schoolhouses, cottages, even railroad cars.  All of the birdhouses are handpainted and embellished with flower boxes, shutters, steeples, etc.  They look great on a mantle or in the garden.

Martin Towe - Master Carpenter

Martin has been creating furniture and cabinetry since he was a teenager living in Maine.  He is a master finish expert creating new furniture that looks like it is 100 years old.  Martin builds cabinetry for GardenologyKC, creates custom cabinetry and historic preservation work for Pishny Restoration Services.

Jen Tyrakoski - Pet Gifts

Jen loves her dog, Sam a rescue that was found under a car tire in a grocery store parking lot at just a few weeks old.  He has become a cherished member of the family and inspiration for Jen to create pet themed gift items.  Some of Jen's creations are paw print stepping stones, greeting cards, cookie treats, magnets, and frames.

Sam and his human sister, Abby (2 yrs olf) are great friends that live with their parent's Jen & James in the Kansas City area.
